Beschrijving

Montserrat Caballé (Norma), Fiorenza Cossotto (Adalgisa), Plácido Domingo (Pollione), Ruggero Raimondi (Oroveso), Elizabeth Bainbridge (Clotilde), Kenneth Collins (Flavio) & London Philharmonic Orchestra & Ambrosian Opera Chorus, Carlo Felice Cillario

Sony Classical is pleased to offer lovers of great singing classic complete opera sets from the LP era, all drawn from the incomparable RCA Victor catalogue and remastered from the original tapes to sound better than ever. From 1973 is Montserrat Caballé in one of her most commanding roles, the heroine of Bellini’s Norma.

In 1988, London’s Opera magazine declared: “In Caballé you hear the expert devices of a great singer, clarity, shaping, rapid passaggi; Fiorenza Cossotto is a strong, forthright Adalgisa and Ruggero Raimondi, as Oroveso, warm and magnificent.”

More recently, when the reviewer on Musicweb-international asked himself “Which version should I recommend?”, he cited this one as “a reading to live with”.
