Beschrijving

André Isoir (Orgue de Saint-Thomas d'Alquin Paris) & Ensemble Metamorphoses - Maurice Bourbon

Among Johann Sebastian Bach’s organ chorales, there are some whose form is more suggestive of a sumptuousaccompaniment than of a solo work. Their true magnificence remains somehow virtual and seems to require the addition of a choir in order to expand to the fullest extent. This is particularly true of the long chorale Herr Gott, dich loben wir BWV 725, a Lutheran version of the Latin Te Deum . . .

Bach, J S:
Chorale Prelude BWV686 'Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir'
Chorale Prelude BWV690 'Wer nun den lieben Gott lässt walten'
Chorale Prelude BWV725 'Herr Gott, dich loben wir'
Chorale Prelude BWV731 'Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier'
Chorale Prelude BWV734 'Nun freut euch, lieben Christen gmein'
Chorale Prelude BWV736 'Valet will ich dir geben'
Chorale Prelude BWV737 'Vater unser im Himmelreich'
Chorale Prelude BWV765 'Wir glauben all' an einen Gott'
Fantasia super 'Christ lag in Todesbanden', BWV695
Fantasia super 'Jesu, meine Freude', BWV713
Fuga sopra 'Durch Adams Fall ist ganz vederbt', BWV705
Herr Christ, der einig Gottes Sohn BWV-Anhang 55
