James Macmillan: Consecration

Alan Tavener, Rebecca Tavener (soloist), Graham Neal (soloist), Louise Eekelaar (soloist), Michaela Haslam (soloist), Libby Crabtree (soloist), Steven McIntyre & Cappella Nova

"MacMillan’s consistency in writing effectively and communicatively for choir is not in doubt. The performances cannot be faulted. Toward the end of Sing joyfully to the Lord, the Psalm text entreats musicians to “play skilfully, and shout for joy,” and that has been achieved here by the musicians who participated in this release."

"The Scottish-based choir once more brings a rare beauty and depth of sound to MacMillan’s radiant music. At the album’s heart are the five Culham Motets...Previously unrecorded, the cycle makes for a satisfying whole, and here receives a compelling and committed reading."
BBC Music Magazine - January 2022 ****

"This is an important release and would make an excellent stand-alone introduction to MacMillan’s distinguished and stimulating choral music. Strongly recommended."
